Ruth Abaya
Senior Director, Health Systems and CVI Integration

Ruth Abaya, MD, MPH is an Attending Physician in the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and a Practice-based Scholar at CHOP's Center for Violence Prevention. Dr. Abaya is also an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Abaya led the injury prevention program at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health where she oversaw the development of city-wide program coalitions including an HVIP coalition and a Cure Violence/Violence Interruption coalition. As a fellow of the Stoneleigh Foundation Dr. Abaya’s work is focused on bringing health systems and public health departments into the work of developing the CVI ecosystem. She received a combined MD/MPH from Northwestern University and completed residency at Boston Children’s Hospital and Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
