We prioritize collective care as an organizational responsibility to actively promote and contribute to each staff member’s wellbeing. Within the HAVI’s organization and in our work with HVIPs and health systems, we develop processes, structures, and policies that value connection, humanity, diverse perspectives, and lived experiences.

We center and value community wisdom and the lived experiences of people impacted by community violence. We recognize that people who are closest to the pain hold the solutions. We follow their leadership to co-create and support their solutions.

We commit to transparency about our purpose, activities, and strategies. We strive to continuously improve and ensure that we are accountable to people who are most impacted by violence. We work to hold health systems accountable to HVIPs, and to provide equitable, trauma-informed care to people injured by violence. As leaders in the field, we are passionately committed to developing authentic and accountable partnerships. We strive every day to live our values thoughtfully and humbly.
