The HAVI hosted a financial workshop with consultant Sunshine Moore Anger to introduce a financial tool designed to help violence intervention programs assess the financial viability of Medi-Cal reimbursement in California. Participants discovered the fundamentals of creating a Pro Forma, a simple forecasting tool for calculating financial projections based on reasonable assumptions.

In 2021, as a result of the HAVI’s advocacy, the Biden-Harris Administration directed the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to issue guidance on how states can use Medicaid to reimburse HVIP services. Shortly thereafter, CMS held a webinar to educate states about Medicaid coverage for violence prevention services and supports.an make all the difference.
